Health fair at work today- YAY! To think I used to run from these!

We had a health fair at school today. I wanted to go to get my cholestoral checked for free. As it turned out they no longer check your cholestoral but did check my blood sugar. It was 75. They also checked our BMI. The lady told me I was off the chart in the opposite direction. Milestone!! I had not seen these ladies since a year before my surgery. One apologized for not recognizing me. I have been really down lately because I was up a few pounds from my lowest. Guess everything is redistributing. I could proudly say I exercise regularly. My blood pressure was 110/60.  Living proof ...sometimes you have to go into a cacoon a while before you can come out a butterfly. Last time I sat in that chair I was given a real talking to. This time I was in and out in no time! I pray that even in all the stress life has sent my way lately I am still holding strong. We have to learn to celebrate the little things in life!

Sounds like you're doing great!  Funny how when we get down on ourselves for a few lbs someone makes a comment that lifts us right back up!

Redistribution will keep on going on.. trust me!  Mine has settled back into my thighs.  I'm not real happy about it, but I DID have great legs for a year there!  LOL.  I know I can get them back... just will take a bit of diligence.

My girls (oo) are back in town. I have gone from barely a B to almost filling it up. I actually have boobs again where I just really had skin. Hubby seems to notice. But I grew up my entire life being called bubble butt. I definately am a little concerned about it returning too. Guess I will have to keep treading and hoping for the best. I am not sure what I would do without yall's support. Hugs, Danielle

I totally understand.  I love to hop on those Dr scales these days. And get my BP checked.  Sure feels better than it did before when it was always bad news.

CELEBRATE!!!!! YOU!!!  Congrats - that is an awesome NSV.  Jody cracked me up with her "awesome legs for a year" comment.  not sure if I have it exact.

I haven't even thought about not being recognized.  That will be fun!

I pray for strength more than anything lately.  Stay strong...

Meg

Even as far out as I am from my surgery I still see little reminders of why I did this in the first place. HEALTH above everything. It is embaracing when you run up to people you know and they give you a double take like who the H are you. I have startled my share for sure. It does hurt you heart a little though. My prayers are with you too.

Be prepared for more of those comments to come.  After my RNY in 06- I was about 2 years out and used my bank card as a visa.  They asked for ID, and the lady looked at me, looked the ID and looked at me with this dirty look.  I said "I've lost a lot of weight, she looked at the picture again and then said "if you say its you, okay then" another one said "if you say so".  I realized after a few sticky situations like this I had better get a new ID.  I went to the ID center and they told me we don't issue new pictures until it expires.  I showed them my ID, and explained I was being questioned at places- they retook the picture with supervisor approval.  It feels odd, but it is super nice, and very good to remind you that being health affects us in so many ways.  I remember looking at the old me, and still seeing that person- but no1 else did, it was a reality check for sure.  Way to go with you healthy self!

Thanks for your encouragement. I have had the ID thing happen to me alot. I have only had mine for 2 years. I hate to throw that money away to get a new one but guess I probably should.

I had that happen when I went to Italy - my passport has a very old pic (much younger too) and the Customs guy in Italy says "you've lost quite a bit of weight, haven't you" - I said "yep" - he said "have a good day"... made me feel pretty good after, kinda paniced while he was looking at it so closely - I was worried he wouldn't accept it!  LOL...
